Spirituality...(and existential questions)
What IS Spirituality?
Well, per www.Dictionary.com, "Spiritual" is defined as:
- Of, relating to, consisting of, or having the nature of spirit; not tangible or material. See Synonyms at immaterial.
- Of, concerned with, or affecting the soul.
- Of, from, or relating to God; deific.
- Of or belonging to a church or religion; sacred.
- Relating to or having the nature of spirits or a spirit; supernatural.
I work with people who are working to establish/re-establish or deepen their relationship with "God," a "Higher Power," "Something Greater" and ask:
IS there something greater?
What is a Higher Power?
Does God love me, even though I did that?
Does God love me even though I am that?
How can God let all of this happen?
How can I get closer to God?
Often people get religion confused with spirituality (which aren't same). People often get confused with believing in a God with believing in a specific religion. Some have a hard time reconciliating some of the things that they've done with their religious beliefs, and many have a hard time with what they've heard that their God believes and their own experiences of their lives (e.g. Sex is a sin, but it feels good so how can it be bad?)
As a Holistic Therapist, I do believe in the Mind/Body/Spirit connection. I do come from a view that my clients are whole and complete, and that they don't need to be "fixed." I help you explore YOUR connection, or lack there of, with "God," "Higher Power" "The One." This relationship, one that most of us don't have an education on further than Kindergarten or Second Grade, often can base relationships in adulthood on this one relationship.
I ask...what's YOUR experience of God.
Or, emphasized another way,
What's your EXPERIENCE of God?
